Radiohead Unveil 20th Anniversary Edition of OK Computer

Anniversary special editions don’t get much better than this. To celebrate the original release of their groundbreaking OK Computer, Radiohead have announced a monster 20th anniversary version entitled OKNOTOK. The band had been cryptically teasing some sort of anniversary unveiling, but the full details are now available: remastered originals, unreleased tracks, collector’s bonuses and more!

The standard edition of OKNOTOK features quite a bit. A remaster of the entirety of the original OK Computer makes up the meat and potatoes of the bundle. The analogue tapes of the 12 tracks are digitized again using more modern tech, and fills one half of the release. For the Radiohead completionist, there’s also an additional eight remastered B-sides and three previously unreleased songs: “I Promise,” “Lift,” and “Man of War.” The new songs are all from the original OK Computer studio sessions, but never quite saw the light of day. OKNOTOK standard editions are available as a digital download, 2 CD package, or 3 LP gatefold – all available online or in stores June 23.

The special boxed edition includes all of the same as the standard formats – and then some. The package also includes a C90 cassette mix tape of Radiohead session archives and demos, a hardcover booklet of exclusive artwork and lyric sheets, a notebook of over 100 pages of Thom Yorke’s notebook, a sketchbook of concept art, and of course three heavyweight LPs. And don’t forget digital downloads of the album and mixtape! The boxed OKNOTOK edition is only available on Radiohead’s official website. It runs for $130 USD plus shipping, and is set to be on fans’ doorsteps in July.

Named by Rolling Stone as the #3 greatest album of the nineties, this is the perfect chance to keep building your Radiohead collection or maybe grab an early Christmas gift. Or, if you’re looking to expand your musical knowledge, OKNOTOK is a great place to start for one of the biggest alt groups in history. Act fast, though: some retailers are already reporting sell-outs of physical editions!

He currently works for a music tech start-up in Halifax, and is a big fan of the em dash.

  • I was hoping they’d include the videos as well, especially the elusive Let Down.
