Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood was hospitalized for emergency treatment

Jonny Greenwood was out on tour with The Smile, the Radiohead spin-off group that also features Thom Yorke, when something went wrong. Eight headline shows and festival dates have to be canceled because Jonny got sick. Really sick. Like, intensive care sick.

We’re not entirely sure what happened, but for all those gigs to be canceled, it must have been serious. He was, in fact, hospitalized for emergency treatment. The band did say this, though:

“A few days ago, Jonny became seriously ill from an infection that needed emergency hospital treatment, some of it in intensive care…Mercifully he is now out of danger and will soon return home. We have been instructed by the medical team in charge of Jonny’s care to cancel all engagement until he has had time to make a full recovery. To that end, The Smile tour of Europe in August has been canceled.”

This affects gigs in Germany, Austria, France, Spain, and more.
