Random Music News for August 26, 2014

I’m somewhere in the interior of BC with a weak 3G signal–but it’s enough to get things posted.

  1. Watch for a flurry of new releases in the next month as everyone tries to get something out before the Grammy deadline of September 30.  That’s why there’s going to be a U2 single in the next few weeks.  Take that to the bank.
  2. The new president of NBC News used to be married to a roadie from The Clash.
  3. Young Jeezy was arrested after a fatal shooting at a Wiz Khalifa show.
  4. Was Suge Knight shot because of plans he had for (the still dead) Tupac?
  5. That Scott Weiland impersonator arrested on meth charges was actually in an STP cover band. Figures.
  6. Beyonce’s manicurist speaks!
  7. Here are the details on the new Slipknot album.
  8. Cassette Store Day: It’s stupid, but artists are jumping on board.
  9. Morrissey is curating a Ramones greatest hits album. (Thanks to Tom for the link.)
  10. And in case you still care, the war between Morrissey and his (ex?) record label is still on–and it’s more confusing than ever.
  11. The iPhone 6 will launch two weeks from today. Here’s some pretty good proof.
  12. MTV MVAs see ratings drop. I tried to watch it and thought it all sucked.  You?
