Medical Mysteries of MusicMusic News

Random music news for Friday, December 31, 2021

Last day of the year. Can you please tell a couple of my neighbours to take down their Halloween decorations? There’s precious little going on, but I did find some music news to report for December 31, 2021.

  1. No Radio City Rockettes season. COVID.
  2. Deadheads are backing out of shows in Mexico because of COVID.
  3. Feeling your age? Learn to play a music instrument and you’ll slow down your brain’s ageing process.
  4. This is kind of a dick move, Ye.
  5. Meanwhile Ye’s business manager (who also worked for Nicki Minaj) has been murdered. Her boyfriend is the main suspect.
  6. How much do artists make per stream? Here’s another calculation.
  7. Rik Emmett of Triumph has a new memoir coming up where he discusses what really happened with the band.
  8. Ed Sheeran is planting trees. A lot of them.
  9. Phoebe Bridgers is involved in a pretty serious defamation suit.
  10. Well, yes, that does kinda look like Bob Marley on a banana.
  11. The celebrity trend for 2022? It might be the Sinead O’Connor look.

BONUS: Las Vegas will hold its New Year’s fireworks display as scheduled tonight. About 300,000 people are expected. What could possibly go wrong?
