A bit sobering. A new study says that 90% of our daily lives run on “autopilot.” I assure you, though, that music news for September 25, 2025, was put together with much care and thought.

  1. The major record labels are accusing Suno (the AI program that generates music) of piracy. They say the company ripped files from YouTube to train its model.
  2. Meanwhile, Meta wants a court to dismiss copyright infringement claims brought against them by Eminem.
  3. Twenty One Pilots’ new album, Breach, is the best-performing rock album debut on the charts in six years.
  4. Taylor Swift is having album release parties for her new Life of a Showgirl album in American cinemas next week. It’s already sold US$15 million worth of advance tickets and could gross between US$30-50 million. For an album release party.
  5. The British have an idea that might save nightlife venues: Allow clubbers to bring their own booze. That’s not as silly as it seems.
  6. U2 has come out in support of Jimmy Kimmel. (BONUS: John Cleese vs. Piers Morgan on the same subject.)
  7. Governor Gavin Newsom has banned Kid Rock from performing in California.
  8. And after being banned from Canada on political/terrorism grounds, Irish rappers Kneecap vow legal action.
  9. Russia has been banned from Eurovision, so they’ve launched Intervision. Who gets to perform? These countries. (Via Sean)
