Forty years ago today., the UK went to war with Argentina over the Falklands Islands. Morrissey is still pissed that the wrong side won. As for music news on April 2, 2019…

  1. Weekly Canadian music sales and streaming stats vs. this time last year: Total albums, -20.3%; digital albums, -19%; CDs, -24.4%; vinyl albums, +5.6%; on-demand audio streams, +38.3% (1.398 billion streams in Canada last week).
  2. It was another good April Fool’s Day for rickrolling.
  3. Motley Crue’s biopic The Dirt has goosed sales of the band’s music.
  4. Rapper Nipsey Hussle died of gunshot wounds to the head and torso. He was shot outside of his LA store on Sunday afternoon. A suspect has now been identified.
  5. Meanwhile, 19 people were injured in a stampede at Hussle’s memorial.
  6. And in R Kelly World, things remain ridiculous.
  7. The Ultra Music Festival in Miami is being called Fyre Festival 2. That’s not good, obviously.
  8. Here is a breakdown of the most popular categories of podcasts now available.

  10. Drake is really getting into investing esports endevours.
