Music News

Random music news for Tuesday, December 24, 2024

It’s the slowest time of the year for music news, but I’m going to push forward because there’s always something to report. Mostly. Here’s what we’ve got for December 24, 2024.

  1. Kanye was seen in a video deposition wearing a Jesus mask. (Via Rick J)
  2. Universal Music Group and Amazon Music have a new streaming partnership.
  3. The BBC will have an Oasis documentary ready by the time the reunion tour starts next year.
  4. Here’s a list of (purportedly) the 12 longest songs ever written. I have some issues. No “Inna-gadda-da-vida?” No “Tubular Bells?” No “As Slow as Possible?” Weak sauce. (Rick J again)
  5. If you’re in Toronto, note that new nightclub laws will come into effect on January 1. (Via Sean)
  6. Some of Lemmy’s ashes will live at a British strip club.
  7. Ever wanted a moose antler guitar? Here’s your chance. (Via Christopher)
  8. Pushbuttons are making a comeback against touchscreens. This will have implications for the world of electronics.
  9. Here’s an interesting radio stunt. Will it work?
  10. Another year-end list: The best 50 indie rock albums of the year. (Rick J yet again)
  11. Fleetwood Mac and cocaine: It was nearly deadly. (Go out and play, Rick J!)
  12. And finally, this Robbie Williams documentary where he’s portrayed by a CGI monkey, is maybe too weird not to see.
  13. Here’s the real story behind how David Bowie and Bing Crosby ended up dueting on “Little Drummer Boy” for a TV special.
  14. Taylor Swift made another big charity donation.
