This is the start of Nude Recreation Week.  That may explain any naked people you see over the next couple of days.

  1. Slipknot has announced Knotfest, a three-day festival in San Bernardino, California, for October 24-26.  It will not be for the faint of heart.
  2. An interview with the dude behind BandCamp.
  3. Another interview, this time on the marketing of music.  This is good if you’re into the intersection of music and advertising.
  4. Here’s a list of the ten best metal bands in America.
  5. Courtney Love turns 50 on Wednesday.  There’s also this matter of a duet with Miley Cyrus.
  6. Paul McCartney is has recovered from that bad virus and is back at work.
  7. And speaking of things Beatles, here’s a look back 50 years to their A Hard Day’s Night movie.
  8. Vinyl sales are up 40% in the first half of 2014 in the US.  But don’t get too excited.  Vinyl is still a tiny drop in the bucket when it comes to music sales.
  9. Is this a Russian rock festival or a military gathering? It’s a little hard to tell. Something weird is happening in the country.
