Random Music News for Thursday, June 30, 2016

Off to NYC to catch the Stone Roses at MSG tonight. I hope they don’t suck. And now, some music news (which, after Glastonbury and leading up to the July long weekend on both sides of the border, is pretty slim).

  1. Are festivals booking enough female acts? Maybe not.
  2. Corey Taylor performed with Slipknot for the first time since his spinal surgery. He was wearing a neck brace. Wise.
  3. Here’s a great way to keep AM/FM in a visible place on the dashboard in the era of the connected car.
  4. “To see God in a wooden instrument is no small matter.” Read what that means here. (Via Larry)
  5. Metallica has a new deal with Brioni, the men’s luxury fashion line out of Italy. There are pictures of them wearing suits. The Apocalypse feels closer.
  6. Yes, kids, that really is a giant fire-breathing spider at your dance music festival.
  7. There’s a new app that tracks playlists so artists have a better idea of who and how people are streaming their music.
  8. Kids are forcing their parents to line up for FIVE HOURS for a five minute ride on Disney’s new Frozen ride. Kill me now.
  9. So what have we learned from the first year of Apple Music? At least seven things.
  10. Cher had to apologize over her use of a particular emoji.
