Recommended Reading Week: The Story of the Band from Big Pink to The Last Waltz

All this week–and looking at the backlog of books in the office, all next week, too–we’re recommending reading material for either yourself or someone on your Christmas list.

There’s a new oversize hardcover book on The Band, covering the period from the recording of the Ronnie Hawkins days in Ontario to their final concert in 1976. It’s loaded with pictures an comments from people involved with the band over those critical years. If you want to get deeper, I found this audio interview with Harvey Kubernick, one of the co-authors.
