REM is back with a new EP! (Well, sort of…)

One of the first things we heard from REM was a track called “Radio Free Europe” back in 1981. Now, 44 years later, the single has been reissued on a new five-track benefit EP that features a previously-unreleased version of the song remixed by Jacknife Lee.

The EP also includes the original single as it appeared on the Hib-Tone label. There’s also a B-side from the Hib-Tone period entitled “Sitting Still.” There’s also a song called “Wh. Tornado,” which, until now, has only appeared on cassette. If you’re a collector, a 10-inch vinyl pressing is coming on September 12. Any money made from the record will go to RFE/RL, an “editorially independent nonpartisan and nonprofit corporation.”

Take a listen,
