Remember The Catherine Wheel? Here’s What Singer Rob Dickinson is Doing Now
Although they had solid fanbases in places like Toronto and San Francisco, the Catherine Wheel didn’t enjoy the popularity their music deserved. After a series of underrated albums–well, I liked them all–the band broke up 2000.
Today bassist Ben Ellis (the replacement for original bass player Dave Hawes) is playing with Iggy Pop. Guitarist Brian Futter and drummer Neils Sims work together in a group called 50 Ft Monster. And singer Rob Dickinson? He’s living and working in California. His company–called Singer for obvious reasons–turns vintage Porches into mad modern machines. And they sell for a lot of money.
I remember that Rob has been interested in cars for quite a while. I had seen pictures of him on my beloved California Coastal Hwy driving a black Porsche, as far back as 2003.
We sure miss you in the music scene Rob! Hope you come back some day man. You and the band were truly genius’s and the artistic work of your music library is stellar and UN-comparable to anything out there. Your voice is so beautiful and the band chemistry to me seemed unbelievable. Kevin Misch Waterloo, ON Canada
He can come back and drive me in one of his Posches whilst singing any day 💕
