Remember the terrorist kid who shut down Taylor Swift shows in Austria? There’s been a verdict.
Last summer, tens of thousands of Swifties prepared to attend a couple of Tay-Tay’s shows in Vienna. But as showtime approached, everything–all three shows at Ernst Happel Stadium–was called off because authorities received a very credible tip from the CIA that the gigs would be the target of a terrorist attack.
Cops quickly descended on a 16-year-old Syrian identified only as Mohamed A, who had been radicalized into ISIS beliefs online. We later learned that he helped translate bomb-making instructions from Arabic into English for an acquaintance who had his own terrorist ambitions.
Mohamed A apparently made a full confession. His penalty? An 18-month suspended sentence. No jail time.
But this isn’t the end of the story. Three other suspects–all of whom were teens when the attack was foiled–are still in jail in Austria. The chief suspect, the now 20-year-old Beran A from Austria, is still being investigated. He’s an interesting case.
The CIA says that Beran A had also planned to launch an attack in Dubai in March 2024 as part of a plot to carry out three simultaneous attacks. Obviously, though, that didn’t happen.
