Remember Tower Records? You’re Going to Want to See This Documentary

When Tower Records opened its Toronto location at the corner of Yonge and Queen in 199–geez, I don’t remember–I was the first person through the door. I was in heaven. The place was awesome.

Tower came onto the scene as the Yonge Street strip reached its peak as the best place to go record shopping in all of Canada. Along with Tower, we had Sam the Record Man, HMV, A&A, Music World and half dozen smaller shops between Queen and about Gerrard. But then just a few years later, everything began to collapse. Tower was one of the first casualties.

Although Tower still exists in Japan, the rest of the chain has long disappeared. Now Tom Hanks son, Colin, has created filmed history of Tower called All Things Must Pass.
