Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” turns 35 with a new animated video

As of this morning, Rick Astley‘s “Never Gonna Give You Up” has been seen 1,219,210,331 times on YouTube, probably mostly because of people being rickrolled, a phenomenon that only started with YouTube in the late 00’s. The rickroll link has always been to the official music video from 1987. Now, though, rickroller pranksters have a choice.

The song turns 35 this year and to celebrate(?), a new shot-by-shot animated video has appeared. The audio comes from a remastered version of Astley’s debut album, Whenever You Need Someone, which is out now.
