Rush’s Moving Pictures box set is a sight to behold

Forty-one years ago yesterday (February 12, 1981), Rush released their eighth and most successful album, Moving Pictures. It’s next up on their march to re-release all of their albums as box sets.

This set will appear on April 15. Fans will want to skip right to the Super Deluxe package which features:

  • A remastered version of the album (first released in 2015 but just on vinyl)
  • Two CDs of previously-unreleased material of a gig at Maple Leaf Gardens on March 25, 1981. Those recordings come directly from the original analogue tapes.
  • Five 180-gram, half-speed, direct metal mastered vinyl LPs. (That’s a mouthful, but it’s probably the highest-quaility vinyl records you can make.)
  • A Blu-ray Audio disc featuring the album in Dolby ATMOS, Dolby TrueHD 5.1, and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround.
  • A 44-page hardcover book with new artwork by Hugh Syme (a longtime Rush art director), and liner notes from Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters), Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), Les Claypool (Primus), Bill Kelliher (Mastodon), and Neil Sanderson (Three Days Grace).
  • A red Barchetta car
  • Neil Peart signature drumsticks
  • Metal guitar picks from Geddy and Alex
  • A Moving Pictures replica tour program
  • A Toronto replica concert ticket
  • Six printed lyric sheets originally hand-drawn by Neil
  • A YYZ luggage tag.

Once you see the unboxing video below, you’ll want to pre-order everything here.
