Sailors have come up with a way to fight orcas attacking their boats: Death metal

You may have heard about the aggressive behaviour orca whales have been showing against boats. They’ve been attacking and sometimes capsizing these vessels in several places around the world, including off Canada’s west coast. The problem seems to be particularly serious in the Atlantic waters of Spain and Portugal. However, sailors have come up with a plan to ward them off: playing lots of death metal blasted through underwater speakers.

They’re sharing a playlist, too. The first song is “Fatal Invocation” by The Fallen Prophets. But what if you encounter a headbanging whale? That could be dangerous.
