Say Hello to the World’s First All-Female Hasidic Rock Band: Bulletproof Stockings

Hasidic women are ruled by kol isha, a modesty dictate that says a Jewish man should never hear a woman who is not related sing to him. You can see why there have been few all-female Hasidic rock bands until now. Actually, there haven’t been any.

That’s what makes Bulletproof Stockings unique. The Brooklyn-based band (est. 2011) used Kickstarter to raise funds for their debut album. You can read more about them at Forward.com while you have a listen to what they can do. It’s good!
