A Short Film on The Record Collector. Is This You?

This coming Sunday, Michael Hainsworth and I are taking our Geeks&Beats podcast on the road to the Downtown Record Show. While Michael isn’t much of a collector, I’m an medium-level obsessive. Not quite the Rob Fleming level (fans of High Fidelity get the reference) but not terribly far behind. That’s why this short film is mildly, er, familiar. (Via PunchBuggy)

Ugh… This is why record collecting is such a lonely experience. On the (very rare) times I engage with a conversation with another collector at a record store, this is the usual result.

Record collecting is one of those things where its own community sucks all the joy out of the hobby, and it’s best to go it alone.
