So, about Rufus Taylor joining the Foo Fighters…

As I type this, there are just 25 days until the Foo Fighters player their first proper headliner since…you know…and there’s still no word who will be playing drums.

One strong rumour has been The Darkness’ Rufus Taylor, son of Roger Taylor (Taylor Hawkins’ favourite drummer) of Queen (Taylor’s favourite band).

I realize that’s a lot of “Taylors” in one sentence, but it was unavoidable. The following is also unavoidable.

While on BBC Radio 2 last weekend, Roger Taylor (who was a great friend of Taylor Hawkins) remarked on how Rufus Taylor was “phenomenal” and “He’s turned into this scary, great drummer with The Darkness […] My son, he’s just annoyingly powerful and he’s become very, very good. I can’t say any more!”

And then he said this: “Well, he does play brilliantly with them. He knows all their stuff, knows them all very well.

“He did play ‘Best of You’ with the Foos, and it was phenomenal at Wembley, and at The Forum in LA. What exactly is happening now, I don’t know.”

Can we read anything into any of that?
