Who Sold More CDs in 2016: Drake or Mozart? (Think Carefully Before You Answer)
Drake was easily one of music’s biggest stars. Not only were his songs streamed nearly 5 billion times, but he also sold a fair number of CDs. But when it comes to number of discs shipped, he’s a piker. There are, however, some mathematical gymnastics involved.
Mozart 225: The New Complete Edition –a box set that contains 200 compact discs–moved 6.250 copies since it was released on October 28. Doing the math–6,250 x 200–we get a total of 1.25 million CDs, which is more than the total discs sold by Drake.
A technicality, for sure. Still, it’s a bit of sophistry that you could use to win a bar bet, no?
