Someone Made an Entire Documentary on Shane McGowan’s Teeth

No one–and I mean NO ONE–in the history of music has been more, um, dentally-challenged that Pogues singer, Shane McGowan. I mean, Christ

Pogues - Shane McGowan teeth

It’s not the man hasn’t earned enough money over the years to do something about this. And he couldn’t possibly have drunk it all. Bad teeth = bad health. How Shane is still on this side of the grass is nothing short of a miracle.

But good news: He has new choppers. For the first time since the Carter administration, the man has something close to a full head of teeth. Something this momentous–it’s been called “the Everest of dentistry” needed to be documented for all time.  And it was–for a British TV Christmas special.

In case you missed it last December, here’s a description from the Guardian.

The 57-year-old is the star of Shane MacGowan: A Wreck Reborn, which chronicles the transformation of the singer’s mouth from a graveyard of long-departed fangs to a showcase for 28 gleaming new dentures on a titanium frame.

The documentary will air on Sunday night on Sky Arts. Starring alongside the Fairytale of New York singer is Darragh Mulrooney, an Irish dental surgeon who gamely took on a job he described as being as big as it gets.

I missed this the first time around. Has anyone found this doc on Netflix or anywhere else? This I gotta see…
