Cool!

“Something Went Wrong with Depeche Mode”

We’ve all become accustomed to the blooper reals that sometimes run over the credits of movies and TV shows. But where are the musical equivalents?  Sideline brings our attention to Something Went Wrong, a compilation bootleg of all the mistakes and glitches that have befallen Depeche Mode whilst on tour between 1998 and 2010.

This is the first I’ve ever heard of a compilation of mistakes. The contributors–whoever they are–came up with 139 tracks spanning twelve hours of music. How many person-hours did something like this take? How many bootleg recordings had to be reviewed?

It turns out that the bootleg itself has been bootlegged a number of times. A quick search will pull up results like this. (There seem to be plenty of Russian download sites. I’d probably stay away from them. There be malware, no doubt.)

Here’s a sample of what can be heard.
