Songcoin Now Accepting Sign-ups
Okay, so the whole concept of alternative currencies has taken a beating over the last couple of weeks, what with Mt. Gox imploding, the suicide of a bitcoin exchange executive in Singapore and the hacking of a Canadian exchange. But virtual currencies still have their fans.
Take Songcoin, for instance. Its backers call this “an alternative currency designed for the music industry.” It’s not up and running yet, but they’re now taking signups.
Not only does it involve transactions to benefit musicians, but journalists and labels can sign up with “tip jars” and wallets.
