Spotify has announced the Top 5 Global Songs of the Summer

Yes, it’s still August, but we’re heading into the Labour Day long weekend, so it’s all over but the crying and ticking off the days until the first day of fall. We might as well start dealing with looking back on the summer of 2024.

Spotify has published this list of the biggest songs of the season. It’s alphabetical and not in terms of streams.

  • Birds of a Feather, Billie Eilish (855 million streams)
  • Hot to Go, Chappel Roan (Big Lollapalooza favourite)
  • Not Like Us, Kendrick Lamar (Thanks to the Drake beef)
  • Espress, Sabrina Carpenter (topped 25 regional charts)
  • A Bar Song (Tipsy), Shaboozey (number one on Spotify charts in Canada, the US, Australia, Ireland, Norway, and Sweden)

Here’s the thing, though: If you were to go up to ten random music fans on the street, how many of them would be able to hum any of these tunes? Big isn’t as big as it used to be, you know?
