Spotify is raising prices again (at least in the US)

A year ago, Spotify posted an individual premium subscription price from US$9.99 to US$10.99. A family plan went from US$15.99 to US$16.99. This week, the price of a sub goes from US$10.99 to US$11.99 with a family plan moving up three bucks to US$19.99. The student tier stays at US$5.99.

Record labels are thrilled. They’ve been pushing for higher prices for the last couple of years.

At the moment (as far as I can tell), these increases only apply to the US, although you know that it won’t stop there.

It’ll be interesting to see how this affects Spotify’s overall subscription/free tier balance. All streaming music services have been bumping up prices over the last two years and people are getting really sick of having to juggle all the services and price increases.
