Spotify’s Most-Streamed Artist of 2015 Is a Canadian. In Fact, Canadians Dominated Spotify This Year.

Now that we’re into the final month of the year, the year-end lists will come fast and furious. Spotify loves lists and never passes up a chance to issue one. The company says they had 75 million listeners streaming 20 billion hours of music (Holy bandwidth, Batman!). Parsing the data, they found the following:

  • The most-streamed artist on Spotify in 2015: Drake with 1.8 billion streams and 46 million listeners.
  • The most-streamed album: Beauty Beyond the Madness by The Weeknd with 60 million listeners. (Drake’s If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late was second.)
  • The most streams in a single day: Purpose by Justin Bieber with 36 million on November 13.
  • The most-streamed female artist: Rihanna with 1 billion streams and 57 million listeners.
  • The most-streamed song: “Lean On” (ft. MØ and DJ Snake) with 540,000,000 listens.
  • The most-streamed song of all time: “Lean On” (ft. MØ and DJ Snake) with 540,000,000 listens. (Yep. Same numbers.)
