Steve Vai and 7,968 other guitarists perform “Hey Joe” by Jimi Hendrix

I can’t imagine the logistics that went into this: Steve Vai, leading a rendition of Jimi Hendrix’s “Hey Joe” with 7,968 guitarists. The event took place in Wroclaw, Poland, back on May 1 as part of the town’s annual Thanks Jimi.

  • Nice idea, but why pick a song that glorifies violence against women?

“Little Wing” would’ve been a better showcase for Vai’s talents and those of his audience.

    • It certainly is a song with dark subject matter but I don’t think it’s meant to glorify violence against women. It’s not like it’s a happy ending for anyone in the song. I imagine they chose it as it’s a very simple tune to play!
