The Stone Roses Release Another New Song. Listen to “Beautiful Thing.”

The Stone Roses have released more new music in the last two weeks than they have in the last 20 years. This second single–released at midnight GMT on June 10–is from a series of recording sessions earlier this year and is pretty much standard Stone Roses. Ian Brown sings the five notes he’s capable of singing very well while John Squire wah-wahs his way through “Fool’s Gold”-style guitar bits. Mani and Reni are rock solid as usual with more “Fool’s Gold”-like congas showing up about the halfway mark.

Nice, but not earth-shattering. Then again, SR fans will take anything from the band, right?

  • I thought this one was pretty close to the promising One Love and Something’s Burning singles that came after their debut, and before the ‘different’ Second Coming…
