Stream Some Ultra-Rare Flaming Lips

Come with me back to 1983 when the Flaming Lips were an unknown oddball group out of Oklahoma. Some of the first things they committed to tape were a series of demos that became known as 2nd Cassette Demo.  These long-lost recordings have been given new life thanks to Wayne Coyne and his current record store tour.

“Lips second demo tape is available now on limited-edition 7? blue vinyl, signed by Wayne Coyne… This extremely rare cassette has been remastered by Kliph Scurlock for the 2000 pressings released this month. Recorded September 14, 1983, it captures the group in a transition from its primitive shambolic drug-damaged punk-pop to the primitive shambolic drug-damaged hallucinogenic cosmic brother death rock heard on the 1st EP.”

Er, okay.

Here’s the tracklisting (via The NME).

Side A
‘The Flaming Lips Theme Song 1983’
‘The Future Is Gone’

Side B
‘Real Fast Words’
‘Underground Pharmacist’

And one more:  Alan found this Beatles cover.
