Sum 41 is going to receive a big honour at the JUNOS next year.

Sum 41 is approaching the end of their quarter-century career (28 years!) with their final tour. Come the JUNOS in the spring, the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) is going to induct the band into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

You can see why. During the band’s lifetime, they’ve sold over 15 million records, had a series of #1 rock hits, a Grammy nomination, seven JUNO nominations (2 (and two wins), a Kerrang Award, sold-out tours, and more.

The Canadian leg of their farewell tour starts in January. The very last show will be in Toronto on January 30, but there will be an encore performance on the JUNOS from Vancouver on March 30.

Other members of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame include Alanis Morissette, Barenaked Ladies, Jann Arden, Joni Mitchell, k.d. lang, Leonard Cohen, Nickelback, Neil Young, Oscar Peterson, RUSH, The Guess Who, The Tragically Hip, Sarah McLachlan and Shania Twain.

Nice. I’ve been following these guys since they were teenagers. Glad to see them get the recognition they deserve.
