Taylor Swift Gives a Songwriting Credit to…Right Said Fred?

If the Internet seems sluggish today, it’s because Taylor Swift released a new single and the universe seems to be losing its mind. But those listening to Tay-Tay’s “Look What You Made Me Do” may notice some similarities to a song from 1991. Let’s compare.

Now listen to this, paying particular attention how the melody is spoken/sung.

Rather than launch into a weird plagiarism fight (thanks, Robin Thicke, for messing up songwriting with the whole “Blurred Lines” thing), Taylor has unexpectedly given the songwriting team behind “I’m Too Sexy” a songwriting credit, acknowledging “an interpolation of a melody” in her new song. This is gonna be a nice payday for the RSF guys. They tweeted their appreciation.
