WTF?

Teenager Nearly Killed by Tornado Because His Music Was Too Loud

The deal was that Wyatt Schrepfer had to do the lawn at his parents’ house in Trinidad, Colorado.  This kind of yardwork can be hideously boring, so to help pass the time, Wyatt put on a set of headphones and turned up the music so he could hear it over the din of the lawn tractor.  And the approaching tornado.

It wasn’t until the hood of the tractor blew off that he realized that an EF-1 storm was coming at him from behind.

To repeat: this kid had the volume turned up so loud he didn’t hear a tornado.

Two questions:

1. What was this kid listening to?

2.  How bad are his hearing going to be in a few years?
