The Alphabetical Archive for 20 July 2012: Felt

We’re up to F in this first scan through my music collection as I look for forgotten gems or songs that otherwise demand attention.

Felt was a British band of the 80s led by a guy who only went by the name of Lawrence (the guy with the hat in the video).  No last name, ever.

Felt (which recorded a series of records starting in 1981 and ending in 1989.  Lawrence later went on to form Denim and then Go Kart Mozart.

Their greatest track was “Primitive Painters” which appearaed as a 12-inch single on the Cherry Red label in August 1985.  The woman on the track is Elizabeth Fraser of the Cocteau Twins.  I dare you to listen to this track and not feel good.
