The buzz for the upcoming CFNY documentary is building internationally

The story thus far: One night after to many refreshments, three of us decided that we needed to make a documentary about CFNY’s “Spirit of Radio” years, a special time in Toronto radio that ran between 1977 and 1992. Ivar Hamilton (the station’s music director at the time), Scot Turner (who did so much on-air work), and me roped in two more executive producers (Chantal Jackson, who was worked with Vice and other big outlets), and Barb Hall (known for Emmy-winning work with PBS) along with Matt Schichter to direct.

Principle photography and interviews started in November 2022 and wrapped in December 2023. Editing and colour correction are done. The score has been added. The music has been licensed. Now we’re getting our marketing promotion ducks in a row so we can final premiere (and sell) this thing.

Word is getting around, too. This week, we got a write-up in The Hollywood Reporter.

A few other outlets have picked up the story, too. (For example…) *If you find any more mentions, please let me know via [email protected].

Soon, everyone. Soon.
