The “cellar violinist” in Ukraine has gone viral. UPDATE: She’s been joined by 94 other violinists.

Before Russia invaded Ukraine, Vera Lytovchekno performed as part of the Kharkiv City Opera orchestra and a well-regarded music teacher. Since Russia rolled in, she’s been living in the basement of her apartment building as bombs fall outside.

She’s also been YouTubing her recitals for the world to see. Watch.

Now we hear about 94 violinists from 29 countries who joined together to play along.
