Music History

The Clash’s Sandinista album was released 40 years ago. There’s now a new video for “The Magnificent Seven.”

It was December 11, 1980 when The Clash released the follow-up to London Calling, the sprawling triple called Sandinista. To commemorate things, Clash confidante and filmmaker Don Letts has created a new music video for “The Magnificent Seven,” one of the album’s singles. He cobbled together footage from The Clash’s 80s heyday (including some never-before-seen stuff) to create this.

Letts said this in a statement: “They were always ahead of the game – Sandinista! signposted the multi-cultural way music was going and the elements that make The Clash great are still a currency that’s recognized by youth in the 21st century.”
