The Federal election is on! Time for a new Conservative Party theme song.

The writ has dropped so Canadians will be going to the polls this fall. Determined to unseat Justin Trudeau’s Liberals, Andrew Scheer’s Conservatives decided that they needed an election theme song. But from whom?

They found Jim Vallance, Bryan Adams’ longtime writing partner. He came up with “Get Ahead,” a track that isn’t really a song but a loop designed for rallies. It hammers away at the Conservatives’ campaign slogan, which is “It’s time for you to get ahead,” punctuated by plenty of “whooaahs” and a 80s-sounding guitar break.

Jim’s won Junos and is a member of the Order of Canada. Here’s what he gave to the Tories.

Meanwhile the Liberals reveal their campaign song by The Strumbellas. Haven’t seen an NDP song yet but, so far, I’d say the Liberals got the better tune.
