The Journey Arcade Game

Remember arcades? Those places where you’d dump your allowances into video game machines one quarter at a time.  Pac-Mac, Berzerk and Galaga were my addictions, although I did stray into Frogger and Q-Bert from time to time.

I do remember this game–but I’m proud to say I never, ever played it.

  • I was back in T.O. in May (from Van) for my buddy's dad's memorial service and brought my 9 year old along to see my family etc.

We had Friday to kill so we went to the Ontario Science Centre.

As we walked up to the entrance we saw what the Summer special exhibit was: "Game On 2.0 – The history of video games". We looked at each other with gigantic grins, high fived and ran as fast as we could the rest of the way!

I think it's on until September. More dads were playing games than kids! Highly recommended!

  • Just checked. It's on until Sept 2. Admission included with price of the ticket.

I used to love going to the Science Centre as a kid for school trips etc, and whenever I'm back there visiting I take the kids. What a great place.

  • Played it on MAME a few times… very challenging game.
Geek Time: They used one of the first digital cameras to capture the faces of each member of the band for inclusion in the game.
Also, I have to admit, they do a great 8-Bit version of the Journey's tunes.

  • I do! My addiction back then was a game called Bosconian. As for Galaga, anyone remember that trick to make those ships stop dropping bombs? A helpful way of getting the highest score!
