The legend of Robin Hood has been told and re-told a gazillion times over the years. But this newest incarnation takes a completely new look at the whole take-from-the-rich/give-to-the-poor concept.

Robyn Hood, commissioned by Global TV, is set to start shooting in Hamilton and Toronto this week, The eight one-hour episodes will follow Robyn Loxley (yes, a woman) and her band of masked anti-authoritarian hip-hop musicians (known as The Hood) as they battle social injustice in the city of New Nottingham.

The series is the creation of Director X and is being written by Chris Roberts, who was involved in Orphan Black. Cast for the show is Jessye Romeo (Pennyworth), Nykeem Provo (The Right One), Idrissa Sanogo (Titans), Daniela Kharlamova (The Boys), Jonathan Langdon (Run the Burbs), Sydney Kuhne (Kim’s Convenience), Ian Matthews (The Hardy Boys), Kira Guloien (Murdoch Mysteries), Manuel Rodriguez (Black Summer), and Lisa Michelle Cornelius (Chucky).

Robyn Hood will make it to TV in 2023.
