First, the empirical evidence.  Shazam, the magical app that identifies songs for you, has revealed their list of the songs people inquired about the most.  

1. “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke:  17.8 million times worldwide.

2.  “Wake Me Up” by Avicii:  14.7 million

3.  “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis:  13.6 million
