The Most Popular Throwback Thursday Songs of All Time #TBT

Yes, it’s that day of the week when we’re supposed to dig into our music collection to pull out something from your past, be it a picture for Instagram/Facebook or a song from time gone by. I’ll start.

For whatever reason, I find the 12-inch mix of “Lips Like Sugar” far superior to the original studio recording. Now let’s try something a little more current.

Here’s another odd one in the fact that the radio edit (the one where a vocal stutter subs in for the swear words) is actually more effective and powerful than the original.

So that’s two from me. Where does the rest of the world fit in?

Spotify went through 80,000 Throwback Thursday playlists to determine which songs are the most popular. The results skew heavily to R&B and pop (not surprising considering the chief demo for this activity is 20-30).  Guess what finished at #1?

A brief glance at the longer list reveals exactly zero–that’s NADA–rock songs. Interesting. More at Mashable.

Meanwhile, Danny has this to say on the subject.
