The Oasis reunion tour starts Friday. Naturally, bookies are taking bets on what’s going to happen.

The biggest reunion tour starts later this week as Oasis takes the stage in Cardiff, Wales, for the first since the breakup before a show in Paris back in August 2009. Given the money involved–at least US$400 million, maybe more–there’s a lot of scrutiny, especially from bookies.

I’ve done a tour of betting sites and here are a couple of wagering opportunities.

Will the band break up before the end of the tour? The consensus seems to be “probably not.” There’s so much money involved that the contract the Gallagher brothers signed must contain all sorts of financial (and perhaps even legal ones) penalties that will give them pause about pulling the plug before it’s all over. Yet some bookies are laying odds of 3-1 and 4-1 that they won’t make it through the tour.

Will either brother be arrested for drugs on the tour? Probably not. Odds run around 8-1 or 9-1 against. This ain’t 1995 anymore.

What will be the first song? This has been up for debate from the moment the reunion was announced. A natural pick would be “Rock’n’Roll Star” (an even favourite) but “Hello,” “Shakermaker,” and “Stand By Me” are also up there. Me? I’m hoping for “Acquiesce.” Makes sense, right?

How about the second song on the setlist? “Some Might Say” and “Roll With It” are the odds-on favourites.

What will be the first thing Liam Gallagher will say when he steps up to the mic? “Hello” would be obvious, but so is “Alright.” Maybe a “We are back!” (or some derivation thereof) is a good bet, too.

Will Liam and Noel get into a fight onstage? One site says “Yes” with odds of +1000.
