The Offspring has reworked one of their biggest hits into a vaccination PSA

The story goes that while working in a university lab, Dexter Holland of The Offspring saw an experiment ruined when two components were placed too close together. “Got to keep ’em separated,” he thought. Remembering that line, he took it back to the band who turned it into a major hit of the 90s.

Given that Dexter now has a PhD in microbiology–his thesis was on some complicated aspect of HIV (“Identification of Human MicroRNA-Like Sequences Embedded within the Protein-Encoding Genes of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus”)–he has better knowledge than most (certainly more than Ted Nugent) about how viruses work. And now the band has turned the “keep ’em separated” notion into a vaccine PSA meme.
