The One Minute Music Book Club: The Alternative Music Almanac

When The Ongoing History of New Music started in 1993, I had ZERO idea that I’d still be doing this program more than 30 years later. That show has become the anchor of my existence, spinning off many other projects, podcasts, CDs, speaking gigs, consulting jobs, museum curation, and so much more. It pays the mortgage.

I’ve also written five books, all based on Ongoing History research. The very first was The Alternative Music Almanac in 1995, when a company called CG Publishing took a chance on me. It’s insanely outdated (as you’ll see in the video) and it’s been out of print for years, but I think it sold somewhere beyond 10,000 copies. People still show up at my speaking gigs with copies they’d like signed.

Can you still get a copy? Yes! Cheap!

That’s it for this round of The One Minute Music Book Club. Time to start amassing more books to recommend. I’ll be back.
