The One Minute Music Book Club: When Rock Met Hip-Hop by Steven Blush
In the mid-80s, there was a major divide between rock and hip-hop (or as some called it back then, “rap crap”), something that was seen as insurmountable. But then Aerosmith and Run-DMC collaborated on a new version of “Walk This Way” and the Beastie Boys scored with Licensed to Ill and everything began to change. The cross-pollination began and was unstoppable.
Steve Blush has written about this in When Rock Met Hip-Hop.
