The Osmonds as Death Metal

Donny, Marie and all the boys did have a rockier side to their sound.  It’s just that you had to look beyond the super-sweet songs and all those shiny white teeth.  In fact, there’s a pretty amazing death metal bent to the music made by America’s most beloved Mormons.  (Sorry, Brandon Flowers.)

Kudos to Dangerous Minds for figuring it out.  Just take the group’s 1974 hit, “Crazy Horses” on 7-inch and slow it down from 45rpm to 33 1/3.  Add in the visuals created by Dangerous Minds and you have something pretty okay.

Donny and Marie were almost right:  they’re a little bit country and a little bit rock’n’roll–and a wee tiny bit black metal.
