The Pixies are going to try to break into the world of podcasting

Being in a band is a time consuming thing, so it’s not surprising that there’s a dearth of them producing podcasts on a regular basis. Come to think of it, I can’t think of a single one off the top of my head. I’m sure some exist, but none have really broken through.

The Pixies are going to try to change all that. Come June, they will debut a podcast entitled Past Is Prologue. Hosted by music journalist Tony Fletcher, the 12-part series will be a behind-the-scenes look at the album of the same name which is due in September.

As for the format of the podcast, it’s still unclear. Will it be an oral history of the making of the record? Will it take the form of a slickly produced documentary? Or will it be Frank Black taking fans through the making of the record.

No idea, but given the stories surrounding The Pixies, this could be entertained. Stay tuned.
