The son of Teenage Head guitarist Gord Lewis found not criminally responsible for his father’s death

One of the most shocking rock star deaths of 2022 came to light on August 7 when the body of Teenage Head guitarist Gord Lewis was found in his Hamilton, Ontario, apartment. His 41-year-old son Jonathan was arrested and charged with his murder.

Jonathan had been suffering from mental health challenges. He’d often message people claiming all sorts of things, some about his father.

The two were living together in the Corktown area of Hamilton. Gord was killed sometime before August 7. Jonathan and his father’s body remained in the apartment for several days before authorities responded to online messages from Jonathan asking people to come help. A reporter at the Hamilton Spectator saw a message that read “Funeral people need to get here quick. My Dad is starting to decay.”

It took a while to identify the body because it was in an advanced state of decomposition.

Just before Christmas, forensic psychiatrist Dr. Joseph Ferencz told a court that at the time of the murder, Jonathan suffering from a schizoaffective disorder. He was experiencing delusions that completely altered his reality. Jonathan stabbed his father because he thought Gord was poisoning him and that he was going to “get away” with the killing. Dr, Ferencz said that Jonathan was unable to understand what he’d done.

The whole story is terribly tragic.
