Adele is in the midst of a ten-night residency in Munich. And it’s not just any multi-night gig. She’s performing in a custom-built temporary stadium constructed by Live Nation. Check it out.
- Adele is playing ten shows over 30 days in this temporary “Adele Arena.”
- At least 750,000 fans will attend (capacity is 80,000 a night). This will be the biggest concert event of all time.
- A 721 x 98 foot video wall that curls behind the stage. That’s longer than two football fields
- The largest LED screens ever built
- The venue is part of “Adele World,” an outdoor theme park that features
- A Ferris wheel
- Farmer’s market
- Bavarian beer garden
- A decent facsimile of an English pub
- Several wine bars
- A second stage for additional live entertainment.
When it’s all over, the gross will be US$228 million. For ten shows. That breaks down as follows:
- US$164.5 million in ticket sales
- US$40.9 million in merch sales
- US$25 million from food and beverage
And there will US$612 million in local economic benefits to the city of Munich. Not bad for a city of just 1.4 million people. That’s revenue generation of US$880 million. For ten shows over one month.
And then at the end of it all, the stadium and Adele World will be torn down and the site returned to its original state.
